Juan y Patricio se conocieron sobre el escenario de la Milonga del Moran en el año 2010 en Buenos Aires. Patricio había asistido para tocar con su quinteto "Malo Conocido" y Juan fue a cantar como invitado de esta agrupación.
Poco tiempo después se encontraron nuevamente en el Club Atlético Fernández Fierro (CAFF) y decidieron juntarse con la excusa de ensayar algunos tangos, especialmente el tango "Marión" con el que Patricio estaba muy entusiasmado
Ese fue el punto de partida del Dúo Villarreal Crom.
A partir de de ese momento, Juan y Patricio, comienzan un largo recorrido tocando en las milongas y salas más importantes de Buenos Aires como La Viruta, Parakultural, Club Morán, Auditorio CCK y Usina del Arte y compartiendo escenarios con grandes músicos y bailarines como Chino Laborde & Dipi Kvitko, Osvaldo Peredo, Pablo Rodriguez & Corina Herrera, Rodrigo Fonti & Majo Martirena, Hernán "Cucuza" Castiello y otros.
Han realizado innumerables giras por Europa, Sudamérica y USA tocando en importantes festivales como La Locura Tango Festival (Innsbruck), Festival Primavera Zurich, Philadelphia Tango festival, Lyon Tango festival, Het Concergebow (Amsterdam)
Juan Villarreal y Patricio Crom editaron en 2012 su primer álbum "De corte romántico" en el que incluyen versiones de algunos de los tangos y valses más románticos de la historia.
En 2015 editaron el segundo álbum llamado "Cinco Otoños" con clásicos milongueros y composiciones propias.
En 2019 realizan "En la luna de Valencia", álbum que fue grabado en Valencia, España con artistas invitados como el guitarrista Raúl Kiokio y los cantores Nelson Scarlatto y Gavión.
En 2022 presentaron "D'arienzo en guitarras" su nuevo álbum dedicado al Rey del Compás, con invitados estelares como el cantor Pablo Ramos, hijo Osvaldo Ramos (último gran cantor de D'arienzo), Trio Malamado y el guitarrista Guido Iacopetti.

Juan and Patricio met on stage at the Milonga del Moran in 2010 in Buenos Aires. Patricio had come to play with his quintet "Malo Conocido" and Juan went to sing as a guest of this group.
Shortly afterwards they met again at the Club Atletico Fernandez Fierro (CAFF) and decided to get together with the excuse of rehearsing some tangos, especially the tango "Marion" with which Patricio was very enthusiastic.
That was the starting point of the Dúo Villarreal Crom.
From that moment on, Juan and Patricio began a long journey playing in the most important milongas and venues of Buenos Aires such as La Viruta, Parakultural, Club Morán, Auditorio CCK and Usina del Arte and sharing stages with great musicians and dancers such as Chino Laborde & Dipi Kvitko, Osvaldo Peredo, Pablo Rodriguez & Corina Herrera, Rodrigo Fonti & Majo Martirena, Hernán "Cucuza" Castiello and others.
They have toured Europe, South America and the USA playing in important festivals such as La Locura Tango Festival (Innsbruck), Festival Primavera Zurich, Philadelphia Tango festival, Lyon Tango festival, Het Concergebow (Amsterdam).

In 2019 they released "En la luna de Valencia", an album that was recorded in Valencia, Spain with guest artists such as the guitarist Raúl Kiokio and the singers Nelson Scarlatto and Gavión.
